Physically, halflings are a diminutive race of people with long hair, large ears, and hairy feet. They have a reputation for being very social and affable. Their charming personalities, small size, and inquisitive nature leads to most in halfling society becoming musicians, diplomats, and scholars rather than warriors or manual laborers. Most societies welcome halflings, however they do have some stigma surrounding their occasional rogue-like nature.
Halflings were created early on during the creation of Aerus. Scholars say that halflings were once an early tribe of humans prone to xenophobia and conquering other tribes. The Unicorn punished them for this behavior by reducing their size over generations, making them less adapted for war, often forcing them to negotiate. As a result, most halflings today look down upon other halflings who would resort to their old barbaric ways. Yet still, there are a small minority of halflings who openly relish in their old ways, and despise The Unicorn for so unfairly punishing them when their tribe was the strongest. This is somewhat of a taboo in halfling culture, but many halflings secretly still hold this resentment for The Unicorn. Despite both of them being generally goodhearted, The Unicorn is one of the least worshiped deities in halfling culture. Still though, this hatred is kept a secret among most halflings.
